The 2009–10 UEFA Europa League is the first season of the UEFA Europa League, the competition previously known as UEFA Cup, which had been in existence for 38 years.
A total of 192 teams from 53 UEFA associations are expected to participate in the 2009–10 UEFA Europa League. Countries are allocated places according to their UEFA League coefficient.

The two British teams who have qualified for the Europa League are Everton and Fulham.

A total of 48 teams were drawn into twelve groups of four. Teams were divided into four pots, based on UEFA coefficients. Clubs from the same pot or the same association cannot be drawn into the same group. Each team will play against each other in its group twice. The top two in each group will proceed to the knockout stage. The two British teams who Qualified for the Europa League are Everton and Fulham.
