Arsenal FC were founded in 1886, though they won their first major trophies in the 1930s, with five League Championship titles and two FA Cups. After a lean period in the post-war years they became the second club of the 20th century to win the duble in 1970-71, and during the past twenty years they have been one of the most successful clubs in English football – in that time Arsenal won two more doubles, the Premier League in 03-0, and in 05-06 became the first london team to reach the champions league final. They also had an amazing 49 game unbeat run as well, the longest in history.

Boleyn Ground, more commonly referred to as Upton Park, is the home ground of West Ham United FC. The stadium has a capacity of 35,016 seats.

Boleyn Ground was built in 1904, and about a decade later West Ham selected it as their home ground.

The stadium recorded its highest attendance of 42,322 during a match with Tottenham Hotspur in 1970. The stadium got extensively renovated in the 1990s and early 2000s.

In recent years West Ham has been looking at either increasing the capacity of Boleyn Ground, or moving to a new stadium. This culminated in the club submitting a bid to buy the 2012 Olympic Stadium after the Games. This bid was accepted in 2011, however later collapsed due to legal challenges. The club is now intent on renting the stadium after the Games.

Getting there:

Boleyn Ground is located in the east of London, about 6 miles east of the City of London. If arriving by car from the north circular A406, leave for Barking/East Ham A124. Turn west onto Barking Road, continue for about 1.5 miles, and turn right into Green Street. From the City take the A13 east to Canning Town, then follow the signs for East Ham A124, and after a little more than 1.5 miles turn left into Green Street. The nearest tube station is Upton Park, a few minutes from the ground. Upton Park is served by both the District and Hammersmith & City lines.
