West Bromwich Albion Football Club, also known as West Brom, The Baggies, The Throstles, Albion or WBA, are an English Premier League association football club based in West Bromwich in the West Midlands. The club was formed in 1878 and have played at their home ground since since 1900. Albion were one of the founding members of The Football League in 1888 and have spent the majority of their existence in the top tier of English football. 2–1 in the final.The "Double" of winning the FA Cup and promotion has not been achieved before or since. Albion reached the final again in 1935, losing to Sheffield Wednesday, but were relegated three years later.[4] They gained promotion in 1948–49, and there followed the club's longest unbroken spell in the top flight of English football, a total of 24 years.
The Hawthorns is an all-seater football stadium in West Bromwich, England, with a capacity of 28,003.
The club had their first major success in 1955, when they won the league championship. Chelsea won several cup competitions during the 1960s and 1970s, but after that did not win another major title until 1997. The past decade has been the most successful period in Chelsea’s history, capped by winning Premier League titles in 2005, 2006 and 2010, the latter as part of their first league and FA Cup "Double". Despite their name, the club is not based in Chelsea, but in neighbouring Fulham. The club's home is the 42,449 capacity Stamford Bridge football stadium in Fulham, where they have played since their establishment. Since 2003 they have been owned by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich.

Transport

The stadium is served by The Hawthorns station, which is both a railway station and Midland Metro (tram) stop. The station is approximately 400 metres from the ground.

Bus routes 74 and 79 pass the stadium along the Birmingham Road, with services running between Birmingham and Dudley/Wolverhampton. The 450 bus stops on Halfords Lane but is rerouted approximately 1 hour before kick off as police close Halfords Lane.
